Joe Guerra:
The Heart Behind
The Chairs
A proud Salvadoran, born and raised in the Latino Cultural District — three blocks from where Mission Barbershop now stands. The streets that raised him are the streets he serves.
His path to barbering started with a single request: his uncle asked for a haircut. A month later, his uncle passed away. That loss became the fire behind everything Joe would build.
"I wanted to do something for the community that gave me everything."
From renting chairs at 24th and Potrero (2013–2016) to the Excelsior for two and a half years, Joe never stopped pushing. November 8, 2018: he opened his first shop on 25th Street. Six years there. Then December 2024: a new home at 3160 24th Street.
More than a barbershop. A hub for connection, culture, and community.
Mission Barbershop hosts toy giveaways, neighborhood events, and serves everyone who walks through the door. That isn't the business model. That's just who Joe is.
